The 14th edition of Final Cut in Venice saw two major winners. Machérie Ekwa Bahango's Madi Makambu won five awards, including the La Biennale di Venezia Prize of €10,000. The film is about a relationship that comes under pressure following a pregnancy where the partner is not the father. Bassel Ghandour's Occupational Hazards also took home five awards. This dark comedy follows a Palestinian family in Jerusalem trying to save their collapsing home. Youssef Chebbi's Plague (Balaa), Sofia Djama's A Quarter to Thursday, and Abraham Gezahagne's Mehal Sefari each won two awards. Alaa Eddine Aljem's Eldorado, the Taste of the South received €5,000 from the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie.
