The 79th edition of the Locarno Film Festival opens with the world premiere of The Green Eyes by French directing duo Fanny Liatard and Jérémy Trouilh. The premiere takes place on the Piazza Grande in front of 8,000 spectators. During the opening ceremony, Isabella Rossellini will receive the festival's Excellence Award. Darren Aronofsky, Virginie Efira, James Gray, Asia Argento, Rick Baker, Zoë Saldaña, and producer Sigurjón "Joni" Sighvatsson are also being honored this year.
