Greater Manchester is launching a £10.5 million production fund to attract film and television productions to the region and support local talent. The fund is open to market-ready feature films and scripted and unscripted television projects that make a demonstrable economic contribution, with both local companies and foreign productions eligible to apply provided they make a meaningful investment in the region. The ambition is to position Greater Manchester as the premier screen cluster outside London by 2028, while the creative sector already contributes over £1.4 billion to the local economy. Nicola Shindler of Quay Street Productions calls the fund an important signal of confidence in the region's future.
