During the RO Days at the Transilvania International Film Festival, Valentin Savu of the Film & Cultural Investment Office confirmed that Romania is extending its cash rebate program by three years, allowing financing agreements to be signed until the end of 2029 and payments to continue until 2031. The annual budget amounts to approximately €55 million, while since the restart in 2024, around 90 projects have already been submitted representing a combined total of more than €100 million in local expenditure, including productions such as The Diary of a Chambermaid by Radu Jude and Milk Teeth by Mihai Mincan. Simultaneously, the revised Cinema Law is entering into force, which introduces a separate fund for minority co-productions and replaces repayable loans with non-refundable production subsidies.
